SmartBand SWR10, the smart bracelet from Sony

The SmartBand SWR10, the Sony’s smart bracelet is already on sale. It was presented at CES in Las Vegas and it is now available on the Sony store.

This is a quantifying bracelet that, like the Nike Fuelband SE, monitors the physical activity we do throughout the day, sending all data to the phone via the Lifelog app. Like other smart bracelets, it measures the number of steps taken, the calories burned, etc.

However, Sony is going a step further and quantifies all our daily movements. It can communicate with the software and the phone’s sensors so that quantifies the data of our activity on the smartphone, such as the camera, the GPS, Facebook, etc. Thus, it not only quantifies the physical activity, but also the social activity. We may keep a record of the places we have visited, the music we heard, the games we’ve been playing, and books or movies we see, among other things.

It also lets us interact with our phone via Bluetooth or NFC. The bracelet alerts us with a vibration when we receive a call, a message or a notification. We may also change songs or pause the music of the smartphone.

When we are away from the phone, the SmartBand SWR10 keeps all the information it has collected and once it connects again to the smartphone, it will automatically sync.

The SmartBand SWR10 is intended to accompany us in every moment along the day. It even has a special feature that monitors our sleep depending on the movements we do during the night. Thus, the bracelet will determine the best time to should wake up and it will notify us with a vibration when we finish our dream.

You can buy the Sony SmartBand SWR10 for $126.96 on Amazon, although it’s no officially on sale in all countries. You can check its availability at the Sony website.
