Nokia X, the new family of Android smartphones

Nokia has finally unveiled the new family of Android smartphones, the Nokia X is formed by the Nokia X, the Nokia X+, and the Nokia XL.

The Nokia X and X+ are almost identical. Both have a 4-inch IPS LCD screen with 800 x 480 pixels’ resolution. They feature a 1 GHz dual -core Qualcomm Snapdragon and 4 GB of internal memory expandable via microSD. Both have a 1500 mAh battery, dual SIM support and a rear 3MP camera without autofocus.

The RAM is slightly higher in the case of the Nokia X+, 768 MB, while the Nokia X has 512 MB. The Nokia X+ also includes an extra 4GB of memory on a microSD card.

The Nokia XL has a 5-inch screen with the same number of pixels, which provides a slightly lower pixel density. It has the same processor, 768 MB of RAM and 4 GB of additional memory on a microSD card. The rear camera of 5 MP does have autofocus and it also includes a 2 MP front camera. The battery in this device is 2000 mAh.

The operating system uses its own Android’s fork based on the version 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. Not being the standard version, these devices don’t have access to the of Google services, but they have some preinstalled applications like Opera, Vine, Viber, Blackberry Messenger, Skype and Facebook, among others. They also feature Nokia’s own services like Here Maps and Nokia MixRadio.

Nokia has developed its own app store, which hopes to fill soon with lots of Android applications that should not be too difficult to adapt from the Play Store and Amazon App Store.

The Nokia X is now available from 89 € in six different colors, while the Nokia X + (99 €) and the Nokia XL (109 €) will be launched in a few months.
