The 5 most anticipated Android smartphones of 2016
The year 2016 promises to be good for iOS, Android and Windows 10 Mobile, but especially for Android. Over the new year, manufacturers like Samsung, LG and Xiaomi are presenting new handsets with powerful specifications as well as options with good value for money for those who do not want to spend much money. We have assembled a list of the main models to arrive stores this year.
Samsung Galaxy S7
The Galaxy S7 is highly expected and also one of the first to be announced this year. After the triumph of its predecessor in 2015, Samsung will try to break sales records with its new flagship. We know many details now and it will be presented on February 21. Thus, the device should maintain the same design and screen resolution, but will come equipped with USB-C input, support for microSD card, a pressure sensitive 3D touch screen, IP67 water resistance, a powerful Snapdragon 820 processor, 4 GB of RAM and 12 megapixel camera, but better quality. We must also add here the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, as it will be a bit different but kind of premium version of the Galaxy S7, with a 5.7-inch screen (5.1-inch in the S7), hybrid dual SIM slot or a new Exynos processor with 4 GB of RAM.
LG G5
In contrast, the LG G5 may go to renew its design with a metallic look. The device, moreover, must invest in digital security with a sensor in the back or an iris reader for front face recognition. If we analyze the leaked features, we find the following specifications: 4 GB of RAM, 5.7-inch screen (presumably IPS and 2K), and a very innovative design that would include a magic slot and the ability to remove the battery from the bottom of the device. It is expected also to have a Snapdragon 820 processor and a possible dual camera on the back with laser focus. It is expected that the launch of LG G5 happens around April, but presentation will be sooner. The date coincides with the presentation of the G4, in 2015.
Xiaomi Mi 5
The Xiaomi Mi 5 is the awaited new, powerful and low cost phone by Xiaomi. The device must have metal body, 5.2 inch screen with Full HD resolution (1080p) or QHD, Snapdragon 820 and two different versions with 3 GB/32 GB and 4 GB/64 GB of RAM and internal storage, respectively. Xiaomi wanted this new flagship to be prepared slowly to make it compete against the best of 2016. The presentation of the device was announced by Xiaomi for February 24. This new smartphone will have a leading specifications among which we find a large battery of 3600 mAh and a new metallic design including fingerprint reader on the front.
Huawei P9
Huawei has demonstrated, with the new Huawei Mate 8, that has nothing to envy to the flagships of more established brands, and the new Huawei P9, which according to rumors will be presented in March this year, will try to compete with the top end smartphones out there, in the phablet category. There are still few features leaked about this smartphone, but could state that will have four different variants and 6 GB of RAM, with the same processor as its big brother, the Mate: a Kirin 950.
Moto X 2016
Motorola introduces three Moto X in 2015 to meet the diverse needs and prices of the buyers. For this year, however, the company should focus on the design and release a device with a fully metal body. That would be the biggest change in the look of the device since the launch of the first version of the phone in 2013. The specs should be improved with a Snapdragon 820 processor, cooling system and other features. There is no official forecast for the launch, but should take place between July and September 2015, which are usually the busiest months of the company.
Other interesting smartphones to come
Besides those mentioned above, there are other smartphones with great interest but less information about them. Here, we could talk about the Sony Xperia Z6, that could be presented at MWC 2016, on February 22 to be exact, with the Lite and Premium variants with which Sony usually accompanies conventional top end devices. Also the HTC One M10, even though lately the company has given more disappointment than joy, so HTC needs a stimulus to return fully to the market and increase sales once they are so adversely affected in recent years. And finally, the HTC Nexus, because there are rumors about the new Google devices, and they could be manufactured by HTC, a good gesture from Google to HTC, and if this rumor were real, would force the Taiwanese brand to endeavor to improve the two major smartphones that were release with the LG and Huawei, with 5X and 6P models.
