Badland, free on the Play Store

Badland, one of the best iOS games, is finally available free for Android devices. It’s a dark and beautiful physics-based game, with 80 unique levels and multiplayer mode for up to four players playing with the same device in 21 levels. It’s an atmospheric sidescrolling action adventure platformer that takes place in a fantastic forest full of various inhabitants, trees and flowers. Apparently, the forest looks like some beautiful fairytale, but there seems to be something terribly wrong. You control one of the forest’s inhabitants to discover what’s going on. Through his journey we are going to find an astonishing amount of imaginative traps and obstacles.

In the video trailer below, you can see the number of obstacles to overcome, as well as the impressive graphics and music.

Badland is the first game from Frogmind, a Finnish company who has won several awards with this piece of art. In each level, there are power-ups that clone your character and allow you to solve the puzzle by following alternative paths at the same time. You can also collect important items while multiplying your possibilities to reach the level. One consequence of these cloning power-ups concerns the solving problem, as it’s precisely this multiplicity which makes difficult to learn the tricks needed to work out the puzzle.

And even when we do know how to solve a situation, executing it is also tricky. Especially in the beginning, Badland is not easy to control, and you need to practice a little until you effectively manage the controls.

The multiplayer mode is a completely different experience than the single player game. Playing with other real people turns the game in something even more frantic. Below, you can find an example of what this mode is like:

You can find the game free for Android users on the Play Store, with some payment upgrades (add-free and multiplayer).
